Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge is proud of its rotational Resident Yoga Instructor-Massage Therapist Program. Every month we host a highly qualified yoga instructor/massage therapist to live at the lodge and provide yoga classes and massage therapy to guests daily.
The intensity of our multisport premises makes our yoga classes and massage therapy services the perfect potion to replenish your vitality and enable you to enjoy and discover further.

Yoga classes are based on the teachings of Iyengar, Kripalu and Kundalini Yoga. Each session is an opportunity to explore the body through cultivating a connection to breath and movement, building flexibility and strength through alignment principles, and exploring the wisdom of the body through self expression and attunement to prana. Participation fee varies according to format:

» $30 Individual Sessions

Therapeutic massage may be arranged
upon request in the privacy of your cabin or on the beach; making it a perfect
reward after a challenging day of exploration and activities.

July 1 - August 31, 2008 – Julie Zimmermann
The gift of asana, breath and sound are encouraged and celebrated in classes with Kripalu Yoga Teacher Julie Zimmermann, ERYT and member of the Yoga Alliance. She teaches vinyasa, hatha, and ashtanga in New York City and host workshops on the practice of pranayama, chakra yoga, and offers workshops and classes for those with special needs regionally and nationally. She has assisted internationally recognized teachers from a variety of traditions in Lenox, Massachusetts at Kripalu Center for Health and Healing, and continues her own work with diverse populations including musicians at Vermont Jazz Center, teens in after-school programs in Harlem, army wives who "do too much" on the base in Brooklyn, elders in the Haitian/Kreyol community in Brooklyn, patients supported by the Aids Service Center, and repetitive stress injury patients, to name a few. The modem of her practice is to breathe, feel, watch, relax and allow.. and flow.
March 15 – May 1, 2008 – Christel Pierron
Originally from France, then Montreal, Christel Pierron is a dancer, a certified massage therapist (Esalen, Reiki, Reflexology) and a certified yoga teacher, as well as a Yoga Meets Dance instructor. Christel has been studying several forms of yoga over the years such as Sivananda, Kripalu, Iyengar and Kundalini Yoga (in the Yogi Bhajan tradition). She concentrated her study in “Zen Yoga/Yoga Energetique” during 6 years and received teacher training in Montreal with her late master Benie Deswarte (inspired with the Master Masunaga’s Zen shiatsu tradition) in 2003. Christel now lives in Cape Cod, Ma where she offers massage, practices Soto Zen meditation, and teaches yoga, creative movement, chanting meditation classes and various workshops to children and adults. At Nicuesa, she will guide you in the powerful experience of the present moment, riding the wave of the breath, and connecting with the energy body, moving slowly into mindful stretches, traditional Hatha Yoga poses, and meditation.
